Shebara Resort: Precision Mirror Finish on Curved Steel.

Project Overview

We supplied the full finishing sequence for Shebara's curved SS316L structures, matched to each surface as the geometry changed. The outcome was a uniform mirror finish, approved to the resort's architectural specification.

Challenge

Grankraft Industries fabricated large curved structures for Shebara Resort from SS316L stainless steel. The architecture called for an exceptionally high gloss finish, and that finish had to read as uniform across every curved surface.

Complex geometry makes this difficult. On a flat panel a consistent gloss is straightforward. On tight and varying curves the abrasive contact changes constantly, and any variation shows as visible banding or dull patches under light. Meeting the specification meant holding one consistent grade of finish across surfaces that never presented the same angle twice.

Solution

We supplied the finishing across the full sequence rather than as a single product. Industrial abrasives handled the initial finishing of the raw stainless steel. We then selected specialised tools and abrasives to hold a consistent cut on the curved surfaces, where conventional finishing tends to leave variation. For the final gloss, we supplied Fennel finishing cloths from Germany to bring each surface up to the mirror grade the design required.

Each stage used an abrasive matched to the surface condition, which kept the finish uniform from raw material through to final polish.

Outcome

The finished structures reached a uniform, high grade mirror finish across every curved surface. Grankraft reviewed and approved the result against the project specification and the architectural aesthetic set for the resort.
